What bullets have you tried? That 1-8 243 barrel has been in my shopping cart more than ounce.
Got a Eabco accuracy barrel in .243 win, 26 inch 1:8 twist.
Already mailed Eabco for some pointers as for projectile / powder combos, but have not heard back yet.
About 80 rounds through now, am at moa but looking for more, since some of my factory barrels at this moment out shoot this accuracy barrel.
Anybody has this barrel and willing to share experiences on what works / is typically accurate out of this barrel?
Looking for a 100 yard target load, doesn't have to be a fast one, accuracy is what i'm looking for.
Thanks :)

nosler 105 rfd, 87 vmax, 70 nosler purple tip & 70 smk. So far smk did best with 45 grain of 414 and cci mag primer. Goofing around with OAL now to see if i can tighten it up.
It's throated for heavier, throat is a good bit longer then factory savage.
Bore scoped it; better then Savage, but not super smooth. Have rough savage barrels that do shoot though...
For what it's worth, Sierra 5 Manual lists 39.6gr of IMR 4350 as their accuracy load with the 107gr Match King. OAL was 2.850" and 2800fps from a 1-8 Twist barrel.
Try the 85 gr BTHP Sierra Gameking. Works great in all my 243's.

If all else fails I would be more than happy to trade you straight up for a axis 243 heavy barrel with 140rds down the tube lol

I would try 95 gr bullets(SMK, Berger) and h4831. Also the 105 hornady HPBT, or 105 Barnes matchburner. What scope are you using?
got this back from Eabco;

Thanks for asking. I have published load data for various EABCO cartridges but since 243 Win has so much published data already, I have not published anything of my own... And in fact I don't know that the loads I worked up long ago (if I could find them) would be any better than what is already published.
I recommend three online sources for load data on the 243 Winchester:

38.5gr H4831sc with 107gr smk .020 off the lands has worked extremely well in my 26" 1/8 .243 barrel.
I shoot the Hornady 105 BTHP in my 26" 8.5 twist .243 with H4350 and it hammers at long distance. I get 3070fps with it and shot a 3-4" 5 shot group on steel at 700 yards. Very nice and soft shooting too.
Don't know what powders you have but I've been using IMR 4350 for my 85 gr loads.

42.5 grain ramshot hunter plus the 85 sierra did the trick, thanks for the input guys!! :)
Just had my new xcaliber 1:8 5R 24" on the range for the first time yesterday....
Hornady 105 BTHP with 41.0gr of IMR-4350 in Starline brass, 2.72" OAL was hitting .56-.60 moa for 5 shot groups
Hornady 65 Vmax with 43.3gr of IMR-4064 in Starline brass, 2.63" OAL was hitting the same...
My EABCO accuracy barrel in 6.5 CM is a copper mine. I get 5 shots in a tight group and then it starts to loosen up. 20 rounds down the barrel, and endoscope reveals a bright copper colored bore. Lots of Gunslick foaming bore cleaner, lots of bright blue colored patches later, and then start all over again. Shoots well when clean, but coppers up real fast.
Hope yours is better.

I have a 1:8 243 barrel from Apache (xcaliber blank). I am running the 108 hornady ELD match bullets with H1000 (right at 3000fps) powder and CCI BR primers. I am full length sizing with forster dies and getting consistent 1/4 moa. Just shot a groundhog the other day, now granted only at 206 yards, but I will say it is the hardest hitting load in 243 I have used yet. H1000 is an awesome powder with the heavy pills in 243
Do you think that hand lapping the barrel would help or maybe some lapping bullets.

i doubt it will do much if I lap it; followed the break in instructions that came with the barrel, which involves jb bore polish, and with a tightly wrapped patch around the brush i don't really feel any tight or loose spots in the bore. Don't want to use lapping bullets at this point since the throat is already further out then I wanted it to be. Have a borescope, rifling looks decent, better then savage factory barrels, but the sucker just copper fouls real quick, and there's absolutely no input from the maker on recommended loads. It's a bit of a pain in the neck barrel, real fussy with the bullet, powder, seating depth combination. Haven't given up on it yet though :)
That makes sense I wish you luck with it I was looking into this for my rifle but looks like i will go another route.

This worked for me. The below target picture is with 107 smk's, which my barrel loves. Several other 6mm's love the 107 smk. My barrel also loves 55 & 70 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips as well. All three bullets will produce groups like the below picture. Load info is on the picture. Use at your own risk, always start lower and work up. I am not recommending this load, just showing what my 243 will do.
The diamond is 1/4", I pulled one slightly, anything within 300 yards is an easy kill shot where ever you want to put the bullet, several kills past 400 yards with ease.

I found this target picture using 55 grain NBT's, 5 shot group, the 243 w/ 55 & 70 grain NBT's are "super" deadly, this is one of my favorite hunting rifles. Probably the best all around rifle for anyone from 8 to 80, this rifle works. The only other rifle I like shooting for fun, is my 338 Edge, using 168 Barnes Triple Shock Solid bullets, with over 100 grains of powder.. Chronoed at 4,400 fps, it undoubtedly the king of varmint hunting for me!

Dennis, are those groups shot with the Eabco accuracy barrel in 243 win 1:8 twist?
I tried the VFG Super intensive pellets from Brownells https://www.brownells.com/gun-cleani...prod13839.aspx and KG2 bore polish. About a 1000 strokes removed all the built up carbon and copper in the corners of the lands. 5 shots later looking down the muzzle with my endoscope it was solid bright copper. Great group but slowly opened up as more shots went down the barrel. Good hunting barrel, but not so good for target, IMOP.

I was thinking about getting an ebcco but 2 problems, they don't make 220 Swift for my 112J and I read on some forum that they don't lap their barrels during the finishing and have seen some with issues about the fouling. So I'll pass. Just my 2 cents.
