That would be a large shank, not a long shank. That's all the info they should need about the rifle.
I need a new barrel.
I put in a question to Savage and have not received a response.
I have Model #18890
I believe it is a short action and long shank. Am I correct? I don't want o be tossing out money on a barrel that won't be ok for me.
Is the above correct?
Is there anything else I might need to tell barrel maker?
Thank you for your help.

Thank you for the response (and for not giving any snarky responses about the size and/or length of my shank).

Your shank size is nothing special. While above average, many Savage owners have a shank the same size as you.
The larger the shank the more painful the threading.
BTW- still no response from Savage.
