Sorry to hear about the missed opportunity!
I have a 110 in 270 winchester and loved it till it cost me the biggest deer of my life. the problem is that it will fire sometimes and then sometimes it will not strike the primer of the shell hard enough to make it fire. i had the bolt rebuilt still the same and then tried another bolt in it from a new rifle with the same results. if anyone can please help i could use it. Thanks!!

did you dent the primer ?
Could be a headspace problem. Is it a factory installed barrel? Too long headspace will allow cartridge to move away from bolt head when firing pin strikes it. This will result in a light strike on the primer.

We will likely never know what happened or why. In all likelihood he wasn't even getting light strikes. Will see if we ever hear from him again.
Handloads ?
Factory ammo ?
Accutrigger ?
Ammo age and storage ?
Need more info please.
Some primers are better in the freezing cold than others. Federal primers never failed me in -30 temps. Can't say that for CCI primers.
the rifle has is factory but i bought it second handed and could have been messed with. thanks
thanks!!
Ive ordered a new Custom trigger and going to order a new ER shaw barrel and have the head space checked on the old one before i have the new one installed. im going to get a new custom bolt even tho i eliminated that already. It may take several months but when i find out what the problem is ill post the results. Thanks!!
Check the temperature range of any lubricant that has been applied to your bolt. My personal example, Gunslick almost cost me a buck in cold weather. The last cartridge in the magazine did fire. The buck died. The previous four cartridges had light primer strikes. Bolt was thoroughly cleaned and lightly lubricated. No further problems. This was a Remington 700.
