I can't find a 1.055x20 tpi die. I galled the threads on a barrel removing the nut. I need a 1.055x20 die, Midway has them, but a new barrel will be cheaper. Does anybody rent them?

Hi,
Saw this, keep it open all the way and should work!
Still not cheap to fix a screw up!
A gunsmith may not charge to much to put the barrel in his lathe and pick up and "chase" the thread???

Your local auto parts should have a thread file.. it will have 20 tpi and other pitches.. used one many time to save the end of a motorcycle crank shaft.
Yep ! What LinemanBob said !
A thread file is a magical tool indeed.
They can cost as little as $10 or $15
If you galled the O.D., you probably need to chase the I.D. also. I have a tap for loan somewhere around here. PM me.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
