I use a one piece EGW on my flat back...Weaver also makes a one piece.
Just picked up a mod 11 flat back receiver. Ser # G188xxx. Need help with what scope base to use. Not sure what scope but probably a 40mm or a 50. Any help would be appreciated.

I like the two piece Weavers. Number 61 in the rear and I use the extended 402 in the front since most hunting scopes have relatively short tubes . Number 46 is OK for a short action or for a really long scope.
The EGW one piece work great. If you get a one piece it is easier to swap your scopes around (assuming they are all one piece).

A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
Just my opinion the EGWs sit too high (They're just too thick) I had to add a karsten style adjustable cheekpiece to get a good cheek weld and also may not provide clearance between the scope bell and the front of the rail unless the scope is too far forward.
I too prefer the 2 piece setups. The 2 piece also provide additional clearance at the ejection/loading port which I prefer. I like the old leupold standard setups but they are getting harder to find for a flatback. The Leupolds (if you can find em) will easily clear a 40MM and should clear a 50mm with medium rings no problem. the weavers are easier to find and will also work I just dont believe them to be as solid a system as the Leupold.

Thanks for the input will check those out on Mon at LGS. Only shooting 100yd target, EGW has 0 MOA and 20. Which would be better.
0 MOA base for that distance a 20 moa will put you way way way too high from the optic being centered
at 100.
here are a couple of pics so you can see what I'm talking about,
This rifle has a way short barrel (16") and way short stock (length of pull is cut down to 12") making sliding the scope forward OK but notice how the EGW base protrudes almost up to the bell, also notice how thick the base is by comparing it's thickness to the action. This is a 40MM in medium rings and an EGW base
Here's a 2 piece Leupold standard setup with medium rings and a 40 MM scope, Notice the added clearance. sure makes accessing the port for loading unloading ejection and cleaning a lot easier. Also the height is right without needing a cheek riser to put my eye in line with the scope.
