I like the idea of a vintage scope, might as well go period correct! I have three 99 takedowns and they all shoot better than you would expect! Here's a picture of my target from my 1906 vintage .25-35. It's a five shot group!
I recently picked up a 23D in .22 Hornet and installed vintage Weaver C4, 'cause old eyes don't like open sights, peep are ok. I adapted a Brownell's universal dovetail to fit the existing factory D&T'ed holes
I think EG stands for pistol grip and solid frame.
