around 4000 or better with a 223. Unless you really burn it up and don't let it cool down at all.
Hey guys!
Just counted my 223 rem spent cases used on my Axis... it's already nearly a thousand rounds.
Want to know how many rounds more until my barrel wears out ?
Thanks

Mind you I think in match quality accuracy, so you could probably see many more than that depending on what you find acceptable!
thanks, I still have a few more years of use then before changing the barrel...
Depends on how you define "worn out" and how closely you monitor your barrel's performance. You may see groups beginning to slightly enlarge after a few thousand rounds if you really monitor group sizes closely, but if you are mainly a hunter you may never miss a shot for the rest of your life, even after many thousands of rounds have gone up the tube, and you'll have no clue that your barrel's "worn out". I once bought a .308 target rifle from an avid competitor, and got it cheap because he said the barrel was shot out. First 5-shot 100 yard group I shot with it was .667" using Remington 150 gr. factory loads! "Shot out" for him was "just broken in good" for me.
