I know that my Stevens 320 have a hollow polymer stock so if I were to fill it with sand or something and make it heavier will it be easier to handle recoil?

Interesting. So I wasn't crazy after all. This Rockite sounds like something permanent. I wouldn't be able to remove the stock for repair work then.
Rather than adding permanent weight, not to mention permanently anchoring the stock to the receiver, why not just use a slip-on recoil pad? That's what I use and it works just as it is designed.
I have used lead bird shot (for sale at bpi, local stores etc). You can contain it in small bags and place it where you want.
