Gun Shack has what you need $32 in stock
I have a Savage model 16 (short action, .223 caliber with a bolt face size of 0.384") that i'm going to be rebarreling into a .308 (bolt face size of 0.470")
I've seen that PTG has bolt faces for around $90, but i've also seen Brownells has them for around $40. It's not a benchrest gun but more a deer rifle so i'd rather not spend the extra $50 if I can (money is tight).
The problem is, Brownells has several different bolt faces in the size i need but their catalog isn't real descriptive.
I think this is the one i want

but it doesn't even call for a bolt face size of 0.470"
please and thank you

sorry there out of stock
I think you want this

Part Number 104876
This is what I used going up to 7mm-08 from 223
The thing is you want to make sure you don't end up with a long action bolt head. Go with someone that list the difference or call Brownell's to make sure you are getting the correct part.
"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 (New King James Version)
RustyShackle is correct. I just received that part from Brownells and it's a short action, .473 bolt head.
Will a .308 cartridge fit in and feed from a .223 mag?
Your looking at the "Precision Machined Custom" bolt head. Go with the standard "Precision Machined" unit for $69.50. PTG parts are WELL WORTH the money. I used both the PTG machined billet barrel nut and .250" recoil lug, in my build. The bolt head is next.
Here is exactly what you need.....
