I just ordered a 308 HB and a 22/250 HB from Bud's, too cheap to pass up.

No Choice :) no what you mean
still looking for a .223 HB on GB
I bought a 243 HB February 1st on Gunbroker, received my refund February 29th. My 308 and 22-250 should be at the FFL tomorrow.
looks like the axis hb's must be selling like hotcakes....i decided to jump on the bandwagon too. like needagun, i grabbed a .243 from Tanners and they were GREAT to deal with. was never a 243 guy as I'm a 25-06 fanboy, but i'm looking forward to handloading for it and using it for a future build down the road. This is my first axis.
bidding on a Axis 6.5 creedmoor or would bid on a 308, like I need one more rifle leaning in the corner :), the old lady use to grip and *****, now she just shakes her head and asks if I bought her anything also :)
So Savage will not be making the HB axis any longer? If so that's horrible those little rifles are great. I wish they would rethink that. I know everyone I hunt with was wanting to buy one for hunting the delta. Good tuff rifles that shoot outstanding and it won't break the bank for a bayou rifle.
their custom shop will still make you a HB axis the email said.
but I'm sure it won't be at the deal we are all finding on them now out there
got my HB 22-250
just bought a regular axis 6.5 creedmoor this week
looking at a HB .223 :) trying to decide
We have seen the same corporate decisions in the past from Big Green and Big Red. When the bargain model starts to chalange the company's flag ship model for sales and accuracy, they tend to go away. Ala, the Rem 788. Corporations and stock holders tend to like big numbers.
Man that stinks all the way around. That's what was so great about them is They were a good value. But if I'm going to pay 450$ for one I'd assume buy a 110 it seems like they just started hitting the shelf here and folks snatch them up because they shoot 1/2" groups for cheap. I guess I'll have to hit gun broker and get another one or two.
I doubt these rifles were actually cutting into the sales of other models. Seeing that a bunch of them are being sold on GunBroker for a discount tells me they have extras. Savage making them available for the rebate sounds like they want to help purge remaining stock.
I think dropping the HB is just a matter of keeping the product line fresh. Lately silencers have been in the news a lot, more and more people are buying them. I believe the Axis SR is replacing the HB as the current "specialty axis". The HBs may come back if there's demand.
I wish the HB came threaded, no worries though I was able to give my Smith buddy some business.
