Primary Extraction should be 0.055" not 0.080''. JB is going to be 0.002" thick, approx. 0.003" to 0.005" clearance should work fine. .039" -.002" for JB - .005 clearance=.032" shim.
Greetings and first post.
Nice forum.I learned a ton from the stickies.
I have a 110 I built into a tactical competition and F-class rifle. It has almost zero preliminary extraction.
I can get .039" worth of feeler gauges between the collar on the bolt and the back of the action.
I was gonna do the set screw trick but I think I will experiment with making a shim out of shim stock and JB-welding it to the front of my collar.
My question is (I currently have a .039" gap)
How thick does my shim need to be to achieve the max purported .080" preliminary extraction? How do I figure that?
I have contacted SSS about ordering a upgraded extractor/ejector kit.
Huge thanks,
TresMon

Great. It was the clearance spec I didn't have. Thanks so much!
The problem maybe your bolt handle.
"As long as there's lead in the air....there's still hope.."
How would you know?
Try another bolt handle if you have one.
That might give you some insight as to the problem
Thanks. I don't know of anyone handy that has one. I'll try shimming what I have.
Anybody think anyone here might appreciate a photo step by step of the process?
A mill, 1/2 inch end mill, a precision vice with v block or jig and you fixed it.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
No pictures but.....
If you has a I/O caliper a simple quick and dirty way to get a ballpark figure, close and lock the bolt then take a measurement between the rear of front baffle and the rear of the loading port. Next unlock the bolt. hold it fully forward and take second measurement. The difference between the two will give you close enough number to work with. If that number is in the .050-.055 range for example add a .020" shim between the rear baffle and the bridge for .070-.075 PE.
The correct accurate way per Sharpshooter's instructions, remove the barrel then use a depth mic and do the bolt locked-unlocked pushed forward method from the ring to the boltface, my preferred method.
I don't know exactly what that number should be but I shoot for the 70-75 range.

Gotcha.
Thanks so much.
I shimmed mine and got close. I have .009" clearance. I have great pre.extraction now.
Thanks everyone. I took pics of my process if anyone is interested.
