Chamber brush and bore solvent works pretty good. Won't hurt anything if you're clean, helps plenty if you're not.
Does anyone know of any tool, short of a bore scope, to inspect the chamber area of a rifle? I would like to see if there is any buildup in chamber area. I have a couple Savage 10's in 223 and 243. I do load them on the high side and am curious if I am getting any minor blow back. Pretty sure if it was bad I'd see problems on cases. I can tell how clean my barrel is or is not but, not the chamber. And, now I'm wanting to keep an eye on the chamber of all my guns.
So, hopefully someone knows a way that I can afford.
Thanks,
Regis

Snap on tools produced (produces) a bore scope camera, model BK5500 that I use. You can see detail in the chamber, but only into the throat and into the muzzle end where it very easily picks up copper buildup. It is too large to fit down the barrel except in 45 cal plus bores. Nevertheless, it works pretty darn well to let you see what's going on inside your barrel and chamber. It's also a whole lot cheaper than the $750.00 borescope that's the next cheapest on the market.
Availble on Ebay used (or new) here:

+ 1 for gbflyer (is that Gee Bee?) The chamber brush works well to clean out the chamber and throat.
When I want to know what my chamber looks like, I check my loading manuals for a max pressure load, load up a Winchester case, fire it, and when ejected, I have a chamber cast, right down to the chamber tool marks ;-)).
As for the build up - Hoppies and a snug mop works just great :-).
I'll have to look for those tool marks on the cases as my loads are usually max.
And I've wondered if those camera scopes like the Snap on would work. Good to know.
Thanks for the tips,
Regis
^ Winchester seems to have the thinnest brass, Remington next. Everything in the chamber shows up really^ well.
Lyman has a borecam, which works with 20 cal & up, for $250.
I think bore scopes are about as good (or bad) as the person using them.
How much could it cost to have someone who actually knows what their looking at take a look?
ebay sells android 5mm or 7 mm endoscope for less than 20$ . You can connect it to your pc or phone on the field. I have one in 7mm for my 308 and bought another one 5mm for my 223. both works fine. Just type 5mm android endoscope
Yeah, that is shipping included.Camera focuses about 1-2 cm in front . Play around with the light intensity , I put a small piece of rolled tissue paper In the barrel and push it along this reflects some of the light back .
