Nature of the beast
I have a Nikon 4-12x40 coyote special with bdc reticle. The magnification ring is very stiff. Anyone had this issue or know a solution?
Nature of the beast
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.
Like you can hardly adjust it. No way to turn it up or down with the rifle shouldered.
I've got a few Nikon Prostaffs, and one of them was very stiff, especially when cold out. It seems to have loosened up over the years, but still not as smooth as some others I own.
Yea I have two other 4x12-40 prostaffs those are perfect. I've had this scope for around 3 years. It's stiff warm or cold. I've read if your scope ring is to close to it may cause this issue.
Don't know the exact construction of that scope, but make sure the rings aren't too tight. Some scopes have a tube inside of the outside tube. If the outer tube is compressed too tight, it will be pressing against the inner tube and not allowing the adjustment ring to turn
Good info. I usually torque all my fasteners but worth looking at and seeing if it makes a difference. Thanks!
I'll give it a shot 25 inch pounds should be right correct
I think that's on the high end. Also depends on aluminum or steel rings. I think I have read 18-20.
They are Nikon rings that are camo also. I don't remember the material.
I couldn't find anything definite, only another forum a member recommended 10-15 in lbs for aluminum rings and 15-20 in lbs for steel rings. I bet all mine are tighter than that.
