Most likely a Savage Model 29. Very collectable rifles. Here's an internet pic of a Model 29 to compare yours to, though several different models were offered.
It was handed down to me by my dad years ago. Anyone else have one? I don't know the model number.

Could be a model 25 or a model 29.
See it here?
Savage- "never say never".
Lol, morning Jim, I see were both up at the same time.
Savage- "never say never".
The Model 1903 (clip magazine fed) was the only pump 22 that savage did not mark the model on. Models 1909, 1914 & 25 will be marked on the barrel just in front of the receiver (as long as they haven't been re-barreled!), model 29, 29-A & 29-B's will be on the left side of the receiver (can't be a 29-B, they never had octagon barrels).
It does say model 29 on it in at least two spots. Fully octagonal barrel (as opposed to a half octagonal, which starts round and turns into octagonal. I've seen these on, say, Pedersoli Remington Rolling Blocks). Pump action, with a tubular magazine. Takedown knurled round nut that lets it break down.
