i think i paid $25 bucks through the post office a few months ago.
How much on average would it cost to ship a barrel to someone?

Just as a heads up, UPS won't ship any "firearm-related parts" (if they know what it is) even if it's just a barrel or a stock, unless it's through one of their licensed hubs.

Thanks guys
Yeah I laughed at them when they told me that. But I don't think it's the people that work in the stores that enforce it or necessarily agree with it... it's more of an insurance policy to cover their ass. I gotta think that they lose out on a lot of business from little things like that, but I just use FedEx for all of my shipping needs now.

I use all three, and commercial rates for all three are usually within $2.00 of each other. The USPS has really come around in the last few years, but they have a long way to go.
USPS, there is a big difference between walk in customers vs. commercial accounts. Being I have a Post Office within 2 miles of me, I use them the most. FedEx is about 10 minutes away.

PS; It's all in how you pack the item. "Size Matters" when shipping with all three.
I have learned to cut my own boxes out of 4x4 stock cardboard. Simple and it works great, usually save on packing supplies as well.

fyi
usps has a tube that fits a barrel,

I never say I'm shipping anything firearm related. I'm shipping "machine parts"
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
I've used mailing tubes in the past, cut them down as needed. I wrap the barrels in bubble wrap and put several layers of cardboard on the breech and muzzle ends so it can't push through no matter how badly the package is treated.
they have a triangular box too at usps ;-)

the tubes and triangular boxes are overkill, more than you need and you pay more for shipping. i make my own with cardboard and shape it like triangle but smaller than what they sell. most barrels through USPS have cost me around $12-16 depending on where it's going.
