Typically, I like 25-30 inch pounds on the front. I start at the back with 5 inch pounds and work my way up to 35-40. You shoot groups between every 5 lb increase and record the data.
The idea is basically to torque the back screw tighter and tighter until your groups start getting bigger. Usually your groups will get smaller until you hit the sweet spot for torque and then it will open up again.
Good bedding jobs seem less sensitive compared to those that are not. Probably more to do with the screws stressing the action if the action is not bedded (properly).
