I believe Dr Thunder has a 300 Win Mag Axis Project it might be in the my build thread.
A year or so ago I had an axis is 30-06. Was not really a fan and sold it for another project. I just bought it back. I am going to re barrel it. I found this bolt

and I have found small shank 300 win mag barrels.
Is this the correct bolt to convert the axis for 300WM? and is there an issue with 300 from an axis platform. my plan was to leave the axis style recoil lug and bed the action in a boyds stock.
any thoughts?

I am pretty sure that is not the correct bolt head. That is for the WSM family and you need a bolt head for the standard Magnum. If you'll notice in the description it states its for a controlled feed the axis is a push feed style.
There is no correct magnum bolt head for an Axis. You will have to use a long action magnum bolt head and trim the tenon off to get the correct firing pin protrusion.
"As long as there's lead in the air....there's still hope.."
There is a short action, magnum, push feed bolt head too, but it is comparatively rare if memory serves. It would also need the tenon trimmed due to differences in the lug thickness.
Thank you for reminding me that I was going to go into more depth on the bolt head modification I did. I've had video clips to stitch together since April. More esoteric treatments of my .300 Win Mag Axis project are here and here.
Here we go: new thread with video!
