Welcome
I'm new to bolt-actions, long time AR guy. I found a Savage Axis locally for $200 and decided to use it in a budget build. I dont have a before picture but it started life as a stock Savage Axis.. a few dollars later it looks like this
Savage Axis in 308, CDi bottom metal, Boyd's Pro Varmint stock w/adjustable comb, swapped the factory barrel for a Savage FCP-K fluted heavy barrel, Glades Armory bolt handle & knob, Harris 1A2L bipod, SilencerCo brake for my pending Specwar 762 suppressor, EGW 20MOA base, Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40 BDC, cheap rings but replacing them with Burris XTR low rings tomorrow. Factory trigger lightened to 3lbs.
Hope to take it out this week and sight it in, just got the stock back and the rifle assembled.
Welcome

You don't know what you don't know.
Looking good Mike, (déjà vu!) can't wait for the update.
Looks great , welcome aboard
Stopped after work yesterday and picked up a better set of rings and some caps for the scope. Ended up going with Leupold PRW rings 1" low, seemed like nice rings for $45. Either way better than what I had before.. Did a rough bore sight in the basement.
Had a chance today after work to run to the range and try and sight it in. Didn't realize but I grabbed 1 box of 308 and 3 boxes of 6.8. Hopefully get back out this weekend and play around, either way I'm very happy with the rifle now. Miles better than it was in factory config in every way, should be fun after my form 4 comes back for my Specwar 762 [:D]
Targets upside down
Now that its sighted in I'll try to get out this weekend and pull some 5 shot groups and see what I can do.
Looks good Mike. Lol on grabbing the wrong ammo, bummer. (As I haver NEVER pulled such a trick. /sarc)
You can always go with the old favorite 168 grain federal gold medal match. Let us know how she shoots.
Welcome!
