you did an awsome job on that stock!
I think it will do much better with the right load.
Steve
just was using factory remington 55 grn umc yellow box
Awesome job on the stock. Get some Hornady Tap rounds for starters. Then start reloading. My groups were cut in half with reloading. Also use blue lock tight on your receiver and scope base screws. You scope may be an issue as well. Try a Bushnell 3200 tactical 10x or a SS. You will thank me later.
Good luck,
Merritt
Have been comparing different brands of factory ammo and reloads in my Stevens 200 in 223. So far, it likes reloads with Sierra 60 gr HP best. Try some. With the right reloads you shouldn't have too much trouble getting your groups under an inch.
I wish I posessed some of your stock building talent. That thing sure does ROCK.
Wow!! that looks great! One other thing to double check is that the rear tang is also floated. I may have to try something like that!
haha thanks guys. i will start reloading someday soon i was just trying it out with the bullets i had laying around its a 1:9 twist so ill prob be shooting 69gr. that was the first time building a stock just trial and error but turned out good,
Another ..bravo.. on the stock. I've been wanting to do something like that with my factory savage stock and drop a stevens action in it. If you have anymore pictures of the process I would deff. like to see more.

What brad of epoxy did you use?
Thanks! It is very nice!
epoxy is something called maxium from my autobody supply store its like $100 a tube. i was using it for stuff on my car so i thought i would try it on my gun
Looks good. Great job.
so i got out again today to try out some more factory loads after i pulled the gun apart and beded in a threaded rod in the forearm and under the recoil lug, i also opened up the barrel channel a tad more. and put some wieght in the rear of the stock, dhanding out the rings and bases for leupolds, and what a surprise! here are some pic of the targets with the specs

and to my surprise best 3 shot group of the day with factoy loads..

That's a nice group, how clean was the barrel when you started ? If it was clean it may have made a difference.
i put like 15 rounds of random stuff through it, before i shot 3 shots of each brand ammo i got for groups
Did you use any sort of hardware to secure the wood to the stock or just epoxy?
Looks like it's starting to settle down, much better.
On the stock, I REALLY like your work. Does it still flex a lot just behind the recoil lug? I stiffened one once and it flexed there. I was also thinking of making a long range 308 and was considering different stocks, but might just dress up mine like you did.
Nice work
