The 6.5x45mm has been around for some time, it's in a few reloading manuals.
Anyway, buddy Pole-whacked his wolf in Idaho a couple years back with that cartridge.
Anyone shoot a 6.5x223? I own a 5.56 and a 260 already and have an opportunity to pick this gun up. It's a bolt action.(not a factory clambering). Not looking for semi-auto use because I have a 300 blk. Thinking availability of brass and components I already have would make a nice little truck or youth gun. I don't know much(anything) about this and welcome any opinions.

I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.
Interesting. After looking at a 6X45, I bet there isn't much shoulder left on a 6.5X223!
There's enough for 7mm and then some. The 7mm TC/U has been around for years.

The gun I'm referring to is a savage tactical model 10 .223 action. I've been trying to find info, however, my books don't show any data. I would like to be able to shoot the 123amax but I'm unsure if I would have enough mag space. I read that you can trim some off the front bolt baffle, or replace it, to allow bolt to travel farther back. I'm guessing that would allow you to remove the spacer in the mag box? It's a stagger feed bling mag.
I haven't had a chance to take a good look at it yet. All my guns are center feed.
The 123 gr bullets will give one about 2000 fps from a 14" barrel. There are plenty of 100 gr-class bullets that are good for deer-size game.
The added 300 fps will make hitting out to 200 yerds a lot easier.
Perhaps also check out the 25-45 Sharps, which sits right in-between 6x45 and 6.5x45. There's quite a decent selection of bullets (100gr and less) that will fly quite well.

Good points about the .25-45 Sharps.
But, in the present instance, I would bet that the OP has a ton of 6.5 bullets since he is already loading for the 260 Rem.
There isn't much room to add powder space in the parent case, so differences in performance will be marginal at best.
