What type, hunting,target,position rifle?
i have spent the majority of my day looking for a stock for my rifle why is it that i can't find a stock that fits my needs?
What type, hunting,target,position rifle?
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
Hunting Model 116 FCSS
Hogue. I just got a la dbm and like it. Light weight and grippy, fairly stiff- I gave the pillar bed due to money. I bet the aluminum bedding block is stiffer in the forearm area.
I really want to find a tactical stock or thumb hole stock but this is an option thanks
check out the "pro varmint" model that Boyds carries. that may work for your needs.
Bruce
Holy Crap!!
The pro varmit doesn't fit a bull barrel I just ordered a staggered feed conversion kit
did you have to modify it at all?
The barrel channel had to be opened up to fit. A wooden dowel, some sandpaper, and a little bit of elbow work is all it takes.
If you choose the 110FP Pro Varminter stock from Boyds, it fits a top bolt release, DBM action with a varmint contour. It has a 61/64" barrel channel at point "B", which I believe is 6" from the action if I'm not mistaken. The website used to show where the "A" and "B" measurements were taken, but they don't show it anymore.
That stock should be a drop in fit for your 116.

Mine has the bottom bolt release I'm about to just start over with an older savage and rebuild it seems like i can find more stock options for it
My 6.5WSM has the bottom bolt release on a short action. I had to open up the barrel channel on it quite a bit as all I could get from Boyds was a sporter barrel contour. I opened that one up with a 16 inch 3/8" drive extension in my DeWalt drill, and a 16mm Craftsman deep socket wrapped with 80, 120, 240, and 320 grit paper. Took less than 1/2 hour and two batteries to open it up enough to fully float the barrel.
