That is normal. The end that is banged up has a burr from hitting the bolt stop, you can dress it up with a file to remove the sharp edges.
I have shot maybe 500 rounds thru my rifle and the bolt dont look right. This was bought new a few months ago. It looks like it was machined right thru where the hole is. On the other side there is the same hole only not as large. Also by the end of the serial number, by the 2 it is pretty banged up. Is this normal conditions?

I will smooth it out a little. What about where it is machined thru? Just looks crappy for a new gun...

i was worried about mine too, normal stuff. the banged up area is where it meets up with the trigger group, that too is normal.
looks like crap, but is normal.
a craftsman can't realize his full potential, without finding the potential of the tools he uses....
Thanks to all for a little piece of mind. I was shocked to see this when I was cleaning the rifle.
That little hole is kinda nice. If you get the bolt really dirty it makes it easier to clean.
Might make it easier to clean, but it sure looks like poor quailty to me. Just my 2 cents
