Hello Every one. I currently reside in Colorado where I Hunt and get some work in on the side. I just finished up bird hunting for the year with my two GSP's, and decided I wanted to custom build a lightweight hunting rifle. After some research I decided on a Savage 11/111 30-06 light weight Hunter that I order from a local shop in Brighton Co. I knew I wanted to swap the barrel and found one at 4D that would be ready in about 4 weeks, which is pretty good after all the other makers telling me 4 months. Before recieving the rifle I ordered a magnum taper Chromoly, 20",fluted and threaded for a break with a 1:10 twist.
So, I got the call today to pickup the rifle I orderd, and after opening the box prior to paying for it I picked it up and shouldered it and new something was way off. So I held it vertical and looked at the store owner and paused for a few seconds....... We both busted our guts laughing!!! The barrel on this rifle was so bad you could shoot around corners at 100 yards. He has owned his store since the early 70's and said he's never seen anything like it. We inspected the box, there was no damage so we put it all back and laughed about it some more. He is sending it back for another replacement wich sucks because the wood was a really nice fancy pattern.
I know I am going to stick with the Savage but had to share my first experience with someone!
