Since you've got the 7mm covered, I'd go with the Swede. Add some Lapua brass and some long range bullets and you're in for some good times.
For a long distance target rifle, that I may drag out to hunt with occasionally.
Thinking 26" bbl Varmint contour for either.
I already am set up for 6.5x55 asI have a Swedish mauser and I like the dimunitive recoil, but 280 would make a better hunting round.
That said I also have a 7mm mag 24" sporter barrel if I really need a long distance 7mm thumper like for Elk etc.

You are really not giving up a whole bunch to the .280 Ackley with the swede. In a modern action you should be able to get close to 2900 fps in a 26" barrel. With that performance ballistics are nearly identical except in the energy department and even still you will have plenty to tackle just about anything really even elk. The swede will use a little less powder and be a bit more comfortable to shoot.
