The relativly new 300 norma case is within 1 gr of water capacity to my case. That said if i were to rebarrel today, my choice would be the 300 norma due to
the ease of aquiring brass as compared to making it. My gun is built on a mark 5 weatherby action which i prefer due to bolt face size for that size case.
I can get 3400 + from the 190 in the 30" barrel with 98 gr retumbo. Ive recently backed off the load to 97 gr due to the age of some of my brass.
All the data would indicate a 200 to a 215 gr bullet would be a better choice balisticaly speaking. But weve found the 190 at this velocity is an awsome performer.
Ive no doubt the Berger 190 would be also. The gun is set up as a single shot and weighs just about 20# with the 8.5x25 leupold scope and is actually my favorite gun.
If i were to be using the gun beyond the 1200 yd max limit i put on it, id no doubt be using a heavier bullet. But now were in big 338 territory.
