Have you tried any of the 162 gr bthp match bullets?
I havent had to try finding them recently but im of the opinion they are still in production whereas the amax
is temporily not being produced. And since deer dont read labels, weve never had any complaints about us using them.
I started using them about 45 years ago and never bothered to make the change to the amax.
I am interested in AMax solely for target shooting. No hunting. Upon my reading people haver decent success with the AMax. As I mentioned I read that BTHP are good as well. Their BC is a bit lower however. Good to hear Hornady will produce more in he near future
For what it's worth. I have used these in my Savage 7mm mag. They are for 1-8 twist and are not be the best choice for your 1-9.5 Savage. There are better choices for sure.

The 162 Amax is the one with 1-8 on the box. I called Hornady and the tech said in a 1-9.5 it was iffy but MIGHT be ok.
I will shoot the 7 mm SAUM and all my reading and research shows that many accomplished shooters use this in a 9 twist. I guess I will have to try them to see how they do. Have you tried them?
The 162 Amax is the one with 1-8 on the box. I called Hornady and the tech said in a 1-9.5 it was iffy but MIGHT be ok. Just went with the 168 Berger. That one requires a 1-10. Better bullet IMO.

have you shot them yet? What caliber are you using them for? 7 mag? I got a bunch of 180 berger hybrids as well. I was wondering about the 168's. Berger are significantly more expensive. Did you see how long those hybrids are. And the BC is outstanding
