I recommend attaching the pillars to the action and then bedding. I put two wraps of painters tape around each stock bolt to center in pillar. Apply release agent to the taped bolts. Attach the pillars to the action using the taped bolts. Drill stock holes to the necessary depth and diameter to accept the pillars attached to the action. Make sure the barrel/tang are free floated, centered and under no stress setting in the stock. Then just bed around the pillars first. Let cure for 24 hours. Go to the hardware store and get some 1/4" fine threaded bolts 4" long. Cut the heads off with a hack saw. Screw into action, put 2 layers of tape around shanks to center in pillars and use as stock hole guides when pressing your barreled action down into the epoxy for final bedding. This should give you the stress free bedding job you are looking for.
