Is that a custom job from PTG? I haven't seen any of their bolts fluted like that.
So i finally broke down and bought a PTG bolt body and head....the body more for the bling factor but turns out it does tighten up the bolt in the action which eliminated the bolt bind from the small factory body...and the bolt head because ive noticed i was getting firing pin strikes off to one side of the primer as you can see in the pics...the bottom row of primers was fired with the factory bolt(look closely at primers1 and 3 in the bottom row) and the top row with the PTG bolt. Also very happy with PTGs customer service...i called and spoke to Darren on the 2nd he said hed get back with me in the morning...he called at 830 the 3rd parts in hand and i got the bolt on the 9th.

Good lookin bolt!
They can be ordered from PTG, I just received one today. You can have one ground over sized to take out slop to make bolt run smoother. Had mine ground to .700 in. Same price ground as standard. Was quoted 8 week delivery, but had it in 3 weeks. Had small issue with bolt handle being loose, the two pieces,on the bolt body that go into the bolt handle to keep the handle from turning on bolt body stuck out past the handle, so the BAS did not clamp the handle down, very small amount of grinding & everything is good. Now for the bad news PTG web site may be down, for update.
Sorry for the late reply....no its not a custom as far as the fluting goes but it is ground to .699 as i tried a .700 and it was just a little tight for my action.this bolt fits my action perfect, tight but smooth...i did polish it a little with mothers mag wheel polish to get the shine.
Is there a way that you can measure what bolt size you need or just get one and test fit it?
That is one nice looking bolt.
PTG is first class, I had them make a reamer and being my first I wasn't 100% for sure what I needed. Dave Kiff was excellent in helping me and shipped the reamer to the barrel making when he said he would.
Excuse me Shooter, not trying to take over. How long ago was it when you ordered your parts? The last time I ordered from them they had alot going on and it took a long time to get my reamer, etc. Glad to hear they got things organized. Bolt looks great. Thanks, Paul
I cant post pictures, but if you measure using a caliper at the inside/back or rear of the action, you will need to take the scope off if its installed and remove the stock, my action measured .701, and I ordered a bolt at .6995 and the fit is perfect. This took all the slop out of the action, Im referring to having the action cocked. My factory bolt was at .690, hope this helps.
Certainly is an attractive bolt. Im not a tinkerer but curious as to wether the bolt head can be changed as on the factory bolt?
Is that an 8x32 NXS?
yobuck, Bolt body accepts savage bolt head & all other parts. All that is being replaced is bolt body.
sorry i missed your post...like 452b300 said you can measure your bolt that way for perfect fit...i got lucky and have a buddy with a .701 bolt that was tight so i ordered a .6995 bolt body that fit perfect.
my bolt was .691.
yes you can change the factory bolt head on a factory body...yes NXS 8-32x56 NP-R1...and YES it does make a difference...stay tuned LOL!!!
