He's gonna love it. That, and the time with dad.
Well my little man turns 9 y.o. today and I have been sitting on his B-day present for a month now and it has been killing me. I'll get some pics of him and his new deer rifle this evening when we do his birthday stuff. A few of you may remember me talking about this a while back. I ended up getting him a Ruger American compact .243. I ordered him DNZ game reaper mounts, the rifle came with a mail in for the ruger cheek rest which finally came in last week and I picked him up a butler creek sling for now he gets to use one of my BSA 3x9x40 scopes I have had on various hunting rifles over the years. When the time comes for me to upgrade I am sure he will end up with my Nikon. But the most awesome thing is I get to take him out next weekend to the camp and we will hunt as long and as often he wants to. I did take the rifle to the range a while back just to see what I could do with it and shoots between 1.5" and 2.5" at 100 yards. I am sure I can prob work some loads to close that in a bit.

You know what I like best about people? Their dogs.
Awesome! A gift for both of you for sure. Some of the best times with my dad have been out in a deer stand!
I remember the Christmas Dad got my first high-powered rifle, and there was never a need to get me nuthin' for Christmas after that. All I had to do was smell the Hoppe's #9 on my rifle, and I was a happy guy. Still works for me.
Jim
Thanks for passing it on.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
One stoked 9yo.
