I have a .270 I want to convert to magnum... Bolt head swap?
I have a model 111 bold action in 7 mm magnum I want to converted to a 30-06 I know that the bolt faces are different in diameter but was curious about using a flat top receiver bolt in a round receiver is there possible problems or will this work okay

Sorry I have already swapped out the bolt face
Well, crap. lol From what I understand, the bolts are the same, the only different in the flat and round is the actual bolt handle, but I could be mistaken. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will chime in. I know I've seen flat top handles on round back actions. Not 100% sure on the actual bolt body itself though.
Flat or Round makes no difference in operation, is only cosmetic (in regards to the bolt itself, the Round actions seem to be more true to the scope bases). You can run round rear parts on a flat rear and vice-versa. All long action bolt bodies are the same in length, and all short actions are the same in length (except the 4.52" Intermediate action which was Savage's 1st attempt at a Short Action way back when) with no difference in regards to flat rear or round rear.

Thanks For the answer I thought it was cosmetic only and you just confirmed my thoughts thank you
