Why can't you use the straight version?
I just received my Hdy OAL gauge. I've been using the straight one for years, but bought the curved one for use on my AR.
I'm wanting to check my .300BLK chamber, but the end of the tool has a long extension on it which prohibits me from even placing a bullet into the modified case to the cunnelure, much less any shorter.
I don't see why it has to be so long. Any reason why I can't just dremel about a 1/2" off the end of the tool?

Interesting Texas Solo ? Evidently the straight version won't work even with bolt carrier and charging handle removed? .......... I don't presently have an AR nor have I ever used the angled Hornady tool. Is it possible the split case method would yield the measurements you need without mangling your new Hornady tool??????
