6.5x47 will put you in F-Open F-Class has 2 parts which are F/TR and Open. F/TR is restricted to .223/5.56x45 and .308/7.62x51. Open class is open to all calibers up to and including .35 with range restrictions being the deciding factor.
Can i run 6.5x47 Lapua in F-Class or F-Class Open? I was wanting to get in to competitive shooting next spring and was thinking of building on a savage dual port action with a Savage Palma stock and a Saturn cut rifle barrel.. is this alowed in either of these classes? any comments appriciated

has anyone had any experince with the 6.5x47 Lapua, or Saturn Cut riffled barrels? my old stand by is Shilen, but ive been looking at saturn and kreiger.... any thoughts ?
I put together a 6.5x47 lapua on a model 11 action with a criterion barrel 1x8 twist. It's very accurate. I do not shoot matches with it just playing around. It does not seem to be a picky round to load for. I have shot everything from 140 grain bergers to 107 sierras. Rl-15 seems to be the powder of choice for me followed by varget.
My 1:8 Bartlein (cut rifling) shoots great, especially with 123gr Scenars. From what I have read, the 123ish grain bullets seem to be the sweet spot for this caliber. RL15 is good, but Power Pro 2000MR is the best for me. Loaded some 140 Hunting VLDs for antelope, and they are nice but not as tight as the lighter bullets. One smart design feature for this caliber is you can seat long VLD's into the lands if you like, and still have no problem fitting the mag length.
