Does anyone know if I will have to make any magazine and follower modifications for a 300 win mag long action to 458 lott conversion?
What modifications will have to be done to a long action magazine and follower for conversion of a long action Savage 300 Win Mag to a 458 Lott, and if any, where can I get the parts?

I think you would have to cut out the front or rear of the magazine box to allow for some extra length and maybe even have to have the magazine cut out in the receiver lengthened to get it to fit. The 458 win mag would fit as it is the same over all length as the 300 win mag but the 458 lott is full H&H length.
only the rum and H&H actions have the needed 3.6" magbox. no idea if the lott would feed properly w any factory follower. course ud need the .532 bolthead. some folks have extended the magbox from a regular mag action for rums, edges etc, but i believe they also use a rum baffle to increase bolt travel, not sure there
You could try to find an H&H or Ultra Mag magazine box and follower and go from there, I'm sure this has been done before, I saw one in .404 Jeffery, I'm sure a Lott will work fine.

It's better to shoot for the moon and hit the fencepost than to shoot for the fencepost and hit the ground!
Where can one get the 375 H and H or Ultra Mag magazine box?
Are the longer magazine boxes available through Savage or some other supplier? I see that a 116 SE has the longer box.
ur best bet may be to call sharpshooter, he may have them in stock...but ur action will not accept the longer box, without modification
I was told you can have some modification done to the bottom of the action to accept the longer box.
Not sure but I think some of the newer actions may have an opening long enough to fit the larger box without any mods to the bottom of the receiver. I have a 116 accutrigger model that has a pretty good size gap from the front of the mag box to the front of the opening at the bottom of the feed ramp. I haven't been able to measure it yet but looks like it just might be long enough to fit a full length cartridge in it.
