Is the back of the bolt flat or rounded?
I bid and won a rifle on line that was advertised as a Sav. Sporter 23A. I received the rifle today only to find out it's stamped Savage Sporter. Nowhere on the gun is it stamped 23A except the mag. is stamped 23A and NRA 19. Do I own a 23A or the Model of 1922? Serial # is in the 126xxx range. Blueing is probably 90-95% on the receiver and barrel but very thin on the trigger guard/ floor plate. Stock is walnut w/a schnabel front end. No checkering or swivels. It has been D&T and holds an old Weaver V-22. Any info you can give me would be great. Stay safe, Jim

Savage- "never say never".
The back of the bolt is rounded, stay safe , Jim
If the back of the bolt is rounded then it's a model 23A, the 1922's had flat backed bolts.
That serial range is to high for a 1922 as well.

Thanks Mad Dog, your info is greatly apreciated ,stay safe, Jim
