I just finished my rebarrel project on a savage 111 300 win mag and ordered a boyds classic nutmeg stock to finish it off. However the barreled action will not fit into the stock because the barrel channel area is alittle to tight to fit the heavy sporter contour barrel of .72" at the muzzle in the channel area of the stock. My question is what size barrel bedding tool will I need to open the barrel channel up? Should I have ordered a different stock as this one doesnt quite fit?

Good Idea drybean. never thought of that lol. What grit sandpaper would you recommend?
Med grit, cuts pretty easy, done many stocks that way

Use a deepwell socket and the channel will stay perfectly straight! Mic your barrel then use the next size up socket.
