My 26" throws fire. I expect a 24" will be a little worse.
I'm special ordering a Savage 110fp in .25-06. It will have the accustock, detachable box magazine, with the bull barrel. She said the barrel length is 24". She said I can pay a little more and get it with a 26" barrel. I need some opinions. All I heard is that you at least want a 24" because of the muzzle blast. Is a 26" barrel going to benefit me any? Thanks

My personal preference in the 25-06 would be for the 26 inch barrel, but I'm a handloader.
Shooting factory ammo you probably won't be able to tell the difference.
My 26 inch barrel also throws fire and the muzzle blast is horrendous.
I am going to get a model 111 long range hunter in 25-06 and it will have a 26 inch barrel (including the muzzle brake) which I would consider the shortest barrel I would want.
It would be nice to be able to try a 28 inch barrel to see if that would reduce the blast a little.
.
30-inch long barrels work fine for 25-06.

26" is great. I am building one right now. To be honest, if I could sell my 26" Shilen, I would then order a 28" 25-06AI instead :)
