Call Savage. Sounds like an impact issue.
I've got a FVSR with about 1000 rds down the tube. Been using MANY different brands of mid range ammo, Wolf match, CCI pistol match, SK, Aguila, Geco...pretty much anything I could find online.
I've very seldom gotten thru a box of 50 without a failure to fire...Is this normal?
Cleaning the bolt with lighter fluid, running CLP into it (without taking it apart) seems to do nothing. Should I take it apart? Replace a spring? Buff it a bit? Live with it?

I agree with JC. Something is amiss. Do the FTF firing pin imprints look weak?
Darrell
Don't have enough experience to know if the pin imprints look weak...The rounds have always fired the next time I tried. Some sort of 'spring' issue I would guess.
I think I could get the bolt apart and replace/polish parts...If I thought it would help.
I guess I'll Email Savage and see what they have to say, as you fellas say... something seems (slightly) amiss.
Make sure the bolt is fully closed. I put an aftermarket stock on a MKII action and went half nuts figuring out intermittent failures to fire due to light strikes when the bolt handle rebounded off the lack of relief in the stock.
What kind of accuracy are you getting out of it?
Accuracy seems OK...MOA when I do my part, using lower rung target ammo I do get some 'flyers'...
I did put that Boyds stock on, pillared and bedded it myself. Could it be some relief issue with the stock pillars and /or bedding? I've got the action bolts at 20#...Just checked and the bolt is not touching the stock.

If it isn't fairly warm where you are, .22LR tends to shoot pretty poorly. Something to keep in mind.
