I loved my Savage Mark II TR which practically was a Tacticool stock but on the centerfire stocks I think that the butt looks to long. Like the Choate does with all the spacers in it. Is there removable spacers on the TR?
T-Rex:
What is the bottom rifle in your first pic?
Thanks

Looks nice Elgin!
My first Savage and I love it! 6BR, SSS stock that I clear coated. Shoots as good as it looks.

Vortex PST 6-24x50mm, Weaver Tactical 20MOA rail, and Seekins 30MM Lows... works great!!

Hi
Can I show my latest toy? Savage MK11.22 LR BSEV with Boyds Evolution stock. With Hawke sidewinder scope

I wanted a straight out of the box wooden stock rifle for my first gun. Unfortunately, since I'm on a tight budget and left handed, I was going to have to make a sacrifice on the wood stock. A few months later I finally got it to how I originally wanted it.
My rifle doesn't have the performance upgrades like you guys have.
-Boyd's Prairie Hunter Walnut Stock
-DNZ Game Reaper Scope Mount
-Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 Riflescope
-Pachmayr Decelerator Recoil Pad
-Replaced all the bottom plastic to metal (magazine cap, frame assembly and trigger guard)
Here's my Trophy Hunter XP Model 11 Lefty .308
I stripped and refinished the Boyd's stock to a darker walnut.
Very nice DgTerrell..nice rifle!
Here is mine. Not all that custom but it works
Savage 111 fcns 300 win mag
Muzzle brakes and more brake
Nightforce 20 moa base
Killer innovations rings
Weaver 4-20x50 superslam
Got this one painted yesturday (krylon). I was sick of the black and stainless look. It's a Savage 110 action with a Shillen stainless barrel chambered for 30-06 Springfield, Choate tactical stock, SSS trigger, Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50 scope, Karsten cheek rest, and a Harris bipod. Best group so far has been 0.295 inches averaging about 0.35 inches @ 100 yards.

scnewt....other than it was black, how do you like the Choate stock? It's high on my list and time for a stock. Nice looking rig.
It's a great stock. The rifle sits in it with the rear tang floating and plenty of room around the barrel. I love the flat fore end and the bipod rail included on the stock. Having the ability to slide your bipod down the stock helps if you want to add or lose weight on your shoulder when the rifle is at rest. The aluminum bedding block is also a plus although it's cut in a "V" pattern. I pored a skim coat of glass bedding just to make it fit better. It also had spacers to adjust the length of pull. The only thing I don't like about it are the swivel studs on the sides. They are free to rotate and my sling gets twisted around very easily. They also create an uncomfortable carrying position because either I have a scope against my back or a bolt handle (depending on witch side the sling is on). It doesn't bother me enough to keep from buying another in the future since I can put another set of studs on the bottom of the stock for allot less money than buying a McMillan!
Finally getting around to posting pics of the last two projects.

@BarrelBurner, Nice rifles! I almost went with a .300WM over the 30-06 on my rifle. How's the recoil? I'd assume it would be simular to a standard weight 30-06 with that heavy barrel.
Thank you, i am really enjoying them both. Felt Recoil is actually less on the 300 wm than my 06 with sporter barrel and tupperware stock.
Nice! I know my heavy 30-06 feels like a 243. Makes me wonder why some bother with a muzzle brake on a 308 .
Ok gents,
Building my first rifle ever, scary huh? I currently have a savage 110 chambered in .300 Win Mag. Just bought a Choate Tactical stock (I'm a fan of the synthetic stocks) but it's a center feed stock as Choate does not make a stock for the savage long action with a drop mag. I need to dremel or drill out the bottom so the mag box fits properly. Also, the timney 2lb trigger just came in so that is going on along with a 4x12x50 Leupold scope with Warn rings. I am also waiting on an order I made a month ago from Northland to have a custom Criterion 26" bull barrel turned and made by Jim. Finally I will have it all shipped to SSShooter to have the barrel lug and action tried and trued and glass bedded. I also have a Harris bipod I'm attaching. Any thoughts?
Sounds good but I'm really not sure how beneficial it was for me to glass bed my Choate stock. The bedding block does fine by itself if you want to save some money.
