I finally got my M99F .308. If the lever boss oval number is a true indicator (R), it was made in 1964.
Metal looks great with only a few rust pits... wood, not so much. I got it torn down down, and some very bad shellac stripped off. Someone had totally buggered up the forearm and butt when they mounted snap-on sling swivels. I will have to cut and patch walnut plugs to fit in these jagged, large (3/8") holes. The cheeks are rough on the inside too, and there is a chip behind the safety tang. http://s1219.photobucket.com/user/ta...=recent&page=1
Looks like this will be a rewarding project. The rifle came with a very old Japanese Tasco scope on see-through mounts which I was going to replace, but may just keep.
