Thanks Buxman. That's exactly what I bought this one for, be ready for next years deer season :) I have a Howa 223 for varmint but got some 58gr (hornys I think they were) 243 bullets to play a bit when fur isn't an issue. Couple boxes Bergers too, some VLDs in 95 think they were to work up a deer load.
I made 1 para cord sling so far and love it. Maybe something not outrageous but to match the gray/bluish of the Stevens in a camo and solid with cobra stitch. Been making other para cord projects too. Trying to do a turks head 2 bight on shooting sticks. You making your slings?
Nice looking rifle ShawneeB. The weight makes it a great walking rifle and in 243, you'll do well. Post a pic of your sling when finished. Always nice to see someone's craft in action.
Thanks T. Blew me away when I weighed it. 2-3 rounds (all I stick in) shouldn't up it much. I like wood and the Lightweight Hunter almost came home but I'm what, 16 oz away or less? Considering my 223 with boyds and suppressor is 10 1/2# this will be light!
Thinking on getting on the sling right now. Idea popped into my head for it. Here's a real simple sling on a 22 I did. This will be wider and stiffer. Soon I'll figure out a buckle system to make them adjustable.
Looking good, can't beat Leupold for a good scope.
Thanks Rupe. Leupold been berry berry good to me :) Pics of sling to come.
