Hi. I'm also new to the forum, but I think I can help you. I have a Hog Hunter in .223 and I just removed my irons.
1. To remove the front sight, use a small brass punch and tap the front sight blade out of the ramped base from left to right. Underneath the blade is a small slotted screw. Remove this screw and the ramp comes off.
2. To remove the rear sight, loosen the small slotted screw on the base of the rear sight blade. Slide the blade out of its dovetail slot. Loosen the small slotted screw on the right side of the rear sight base. (The one you use to raise or lower the rear sight.) Slide the moveable part of the rear sight to the rear as far as you can. That will uncover a slotted screw. Remove this screw and you're done. If you want, you can use the screws that are plugging the scope base holes to plug the holes where the iron sights were. These screws are shorter than the holes, so clean the oil out of the holes, apply a little blue Loktite to the threads of the screws and then screw them in flush with the top of the barrel.
Voila! You're done. By the way, those screws use a tiny little allen wrench - I think it is 1/16"
