They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
Thanks for passing it on. :)
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
Love seeing kids out hunting with their parents, and with a Savage no less. Congrats to him and you.

Excellent... Is it just me or does your son have Darth Maul eyes? LOL... I'm kidding, probably from the flash or something but look close.

Very cool! Your boy sure looks proud in that pic! Even though my first deer was over 20 years ago I still remember it like it was yesterday.
A great memory to cherish.
Awesome!!!!!
Thank you all for your comments. I feel like he is much more aware now of what it means to be a meat eater!
Best part is he was told from the get go that he had to eat the raw liver of his first deer.... And he believed me too!
Congrats to the young man and the proud dad!
Congrats. That will be a memory he will have forever.
Great pic. I wish kids could shoot smaller deer here in texas. With the spike and 13" inside spread antler restriction it makes it hard for kiddos that hunt an area with 4 or 6 point 1 1/2 yrs old deer.
This one even with the small antlers went 112 dressed out, so not too bad. He was shot out in Western Oklahoma and sure tastes good!
Oh don't get me wrong I bet he eats good! And an awesome deal that it was a kiddo doing the shooting. My problem is with the tx parks and wildlife antler restriction rules. I believe kids should be able to shoot whatever size deer as long as it within the other laws. I had to tell my daughter no can't shoot that one he is too little about 10 times during youth season. I just hope the time she spent in the blind without shooting a deer makes it where she isn't that interested about going again.
We had a special Youth weekend this year way earlier than regular rifle season. The kids could take one buck and one doe in the pre-season youth weekend. My boy still has his doe tag to fill in the regular season. Oklahoma is really trying to get the kids into hunting and wildlife management in general. Hope he sees a doe!
