Starting load with H335 or TAC would be a good beginner recipe.
You might also see if there is a load with 2400 fromalliant that works.
I have a pretty nice 99f in 308 win that I inherited and am looking to use it for some light duty deer hunting this fall. I want to shoot it as little as possible developing loads so was wondering what you guys are shooting. I have some 180 sst's that my bolt action doesn't like, do you think those would work or should I look at something in the 150 range? Thanks!

H4895 is also good powder.
For .308 deer loads I use 44gr Varget with 165gr Sierra GameKing BTSP.
JCalhoun's load is right in the middle of the suggested range for that powder - bullet combination. My 99f in .308 also seems to like a moderate speed and the 1-12 twist is perfect for that weight of bullet. The Game King is a good bullet and I have used the .165 on Caribou with excellent results albeit out of a 110 bolt action. Good luck and good hunting
The 99 seems to enjoy 150's and 165's from what I have seen and used !
165 gr Hornady in front of 43 gr of IMR 4064 is what I used to use back in the day.
I got rid of my 308 F due to the recoil in those light little suckers, I can see why you would want to drop down from 180 gr shells.
Savage- "never say never".
I would think that any 180 in any 308 is overkill...
