I like the way you think.
Who here is annealing?
I am really thinking about starting to do it.
I keep thinking about a aluminum plate with holes drilled in it for water cooling and nichrome wire coil for heating so then you just push the case through the hole and drop it after the determined time. I'm kinda thinking with the wire heater I can get even heating no open flame and limit my heat leaching with the water cooled plate.
Well what do y'all think?
I like the way you think.
Propane torch & a coffee can 1/2 full of water has worked for me for the past 3 years or so. Let 'em air dry, size 'em up they work fine.
I also have a gadget to hold the case in the flame without causing toasted finger tips.
A lee case holder thingie attached to a nut driver. Gives me something to do at night beside drive my 'ol lady nuts. Do a search here. You'd be surprised at the info on that subject....

I remember one of our members had designed and built a fully automatic belt-drive gizmo of some sort.

I did search, but searching on tapatalk is less than desirable.
If I can get it work I'll put a timer and solenoid on it to kick the cases out at the desired time.
Hmm gravity ramp then solenoid pushes case in, pushes out after time and then drops in bucket.....
I do have the lee case holder I have been thinking about what I could do for more consistency and speed.
I have used different methods over the years and I have never been happier with any method more than the Anneal-Rite set up. In retrospect I would probably just buy the case holders and make my own stands, but the holders act as a great heat sink and the Tempilaq makes sure the temperature is perfect every time. Quick and accurate.

Any clod can have the facts; having opinions is an art.
If you can get in touch with jhelmuth as I recall, he was making them. I haven't heard from big jim in a few months....

Hey Frank!
I haven't taken the big dirt nap just yet ...
Actually... It's not I that builds them... But my Dad. He's a machinist and all around skilled tradesman in the Detroit area. He's gotten a new CNC machine and I do believe he's still making these. If the OP is interested I'll gladly hook them up. He can also goo to my post on the original Annealer my Pops made me....
edit: for the OP... Here is a link to that. http://www.savageshooters.com/showth...ng-machine-FUN!

I did the 1/4" drive extension chucked up in the battery drill with a deep socket for a while. The method / gadgets I use now are good enough for my purposes.
A hot cup of coffee, some tunes on the box, a little annealing.
Life is good.
