If you use the same bolthead the barrel should headspace back in the exact same position making your iron sights line up.
Hi .I have been lurking here for a while and am impressed with the amount of great info available,I am gathering the proper tools to make a switch barrel rifle out of my new .223 Hog Hunter, waiting for a barrel from the Gun Shack,300 blk,i plan on keeping the .223 barrel. My question is how do i line up the iron sights when i switch back to .223?Thanks...Fusion
If you use the same bolthead the barrel should headspace back in the exact same position making your iron sights line up.
Before pulling the barrel on my grandson's 14 I made two 6-48 threaded studs to turn into the mount screw holes, one for the bridge and one for the ring
I put a piece of tape on the barrel then used a straight edge on the studs to draw a line on the tape. When I reinstalled the barrel I realigned it using the studs, straight edge and the line on the tape.
I imagine one could use regular mount screws for the same purpose. Your only looking to align three things, the screws and a mark.
