Its all i use started with the Lee lube then found lanolin locally so now i use only the home brew.
I just tryed the lanolin & isopropol alchol lube mix
its a well known recipe
all I can say is
if you havent tried it you should
it goes on easy
no mess
works flawlessly
dont know why I waited so long to try it
without a doubt its the best lube I ever used bar none
simple to make
just get 100% lanolin & 99% or 91 % ispropol alcohal
bring them up to 110f in a pan of warm water
then mix in a spray bottle
add a ball bearing
to help mix
you'll be glad you did

What are the sizes to be mixed?
2 oz lanolin
14 oz alcohol
works well
heat both in a pan of water to 110f
avoid using open flame to heat-
both bottles sealed just floating in the warm water
when they reach 110 or so with your wifes cooking thermomenter
or till water just becomes uncomfortably hot if you dont have one
after reaching desired temp
mix together in a spray bottle
add a ball bearing or a marble to aid mixing after it sits
place cases in a gallon zip lock bag
spray the mix into bag
seal the bag -then tumble -brass around a little in the bag
to evenly distribute the mix
then dump brass on a towel or cardboard
& let the alcohol evaperate for a few minutes
then you ready to size the cases
save the bag for next time
any one who gives this a try will never go back to other case lubes
the lanolin cost me 10.00 for 4 oz the alcohol was 2.78 for 16oz
I used only half the lanolin & I probably have a lifetime supply ? 16oz
it just takes a few squirts into the bag to lube 100 cases
its not messy or sticky
its cheap
its not only effective
its simply the best way to lube case IMHO

How does it compare to Hornady's One Shot? Does the home brew have to be cleaned off so it doesn't affect the powder? That's the big reason I like the One Shot. When I first started reloading, my kit came with the Lee lube in a tube, and I didn't like that stuff because it seemed like that stuff had to be wiped out of the neck or powder would stick to it.
It's my favorite without a doubt, a great recipe and the price can't be beat !
Can someone tell me where to find the liquid lanolin ?
Thanks
Here you go :)
http://www.amazon.com/Liquid-Lanolin...d+lanolin+pure
or your local health food store
Thank you guys
I tried it too. Man, to think of the $ I've spent on commercial stuff...

If you heat the lanolin and alcohol much hotter it will mix so well it will never seperate.
I normally bring a big pot of water to a boil. Then I remove it from the heat source. I let it set for a couple of minutes then I put the bottle of alcohol, with the lid loosened, and the bottle of lanolin into the pot of HOT water. I let them set for about 10 minutes until really hot then I pour 1/2 the alcohol in the spray bottle then put hte alcohol back in the pot. Then I add all the HOT lanolin to the spray bottle with the HOT alcohol. I shake vigorously for a minute or so while burping the container every 20-30 seconds. Once completely mixed I add the rest of the HOT alcohol to the spray bottle and shake it again for another minute or so.
I did this and my mixture has never seperated. It has sat on a shelf for a month at a time and still looks the same.
I'll try heating my already mixed batch to see if it stays together. I use an old bullet as an agitator.
It's all I use . Easy to make, cheap and works great !
How do you remove the lube from the cases after sizing?
I dont-
if you get the ratio right
you cant even tell its on there
Paper towel if you need, which I tend to because I over spray, lol .
Thanks, for posting the formula. One less thing to look for at the gun show.
Has anyone ever had a stuck case using this?
I have when using diluted Lee lube, but I think it was because I was jerking the knob too hard. I've not tried diluting pure lanolin.
I found pure lanolin at Whole Foods Grocery. $9.00/4 oz. Whole Foods is mostly in the west-its a tree hugger natural food joint. Walmart carries Lanolin in some stores-in the baby dept. Nursing mothers use it on their nipples
