Shot over a ShootingChrony Beta. This is my information alone. Savageshooters nor myself take any responsibility/liability if you shoot these and blow yourself up, burn down the range, crack your windshield, hit the lottery, wife leaves you, dog dies, well runs dry, snowstorms, flood, earthquakes, rain events, hurricanes, your favorite team loosing the superbowl etc etc.

thanks for the info. this cartrigde seems to really like lighter bullets and a max load of varget if you ask me. even tho i don't have a chornograph i figure i'm getting atleast 3,300 fps with a 85gr. bullet outta of mine. i wouldn't push it past 37grs; i'm sure the lapua brass can take, but thats pretty much a hot load.
Well I finally got my modified cases to use with my stoney point OAL gauge. Now I can finally start tuning for the barrel. I was amazed at how far into the lands I have been loading. I imagine the speeds and pressures will drop a bit as I'll start about .010 off the lands.

BB, my 6-250 AI is all used up. I am thinking of rebarrelling to 6X47 L. Keep us posted on yur results. so far it looks very promising!
Steve
SteveC- what kind of Data (gr. of powder vs. velocity w/ a given projectile weight) are you getting w/ the 6-250? Why rechamber to 6x47?
I can get 3200 with 107 Sierras but my brass suffers. Around 3100 shoots well and good brass life. The only reasons to change are Lapua brass, Small primers, longer neck(may give more throat life). If I cant get it to shoot good @ 3100, My 6-250AI reamer will clean the 6X47 Chamber. also, I have not messed with the 6X47 yet. ;D
I cant afford to own them all at one time ,so I try to own them all at one time or another!
Steve
got it. Sounds like very similar performance btwn the 2 rounds.
Purchased some Berger 105gr VLDs and I will say that so far I am very impressed by the wind bucking abilities of this bullet. My AMax load was running a 4 in horizontal spread due to the wind, high gusts and sustained winds in the 20-40 mph range depnding on where you were. THe bergers but that down to 2 1/2. I still am developing a load for them but was able to run from 38 to 42gr of RL17, cci br4, and no signs of pressure. Unfortunately my chrono died in the 18 degree temps so I have no speed readings. Hopefully I'll have some this weekend.

Wow, RL17 likes my gun and Berger 105 VLDs. Only loded to 42gr but something tells me I'm near max anyway, but I hit 3248fps. I thought there might have been an issue with my Chrono so we ran over a second clock and it gave us the same reading.... I'm liking the RL17 so far. Now if I can get over the flu I'll see if I can get it to group a bit.

Wow! That is impressive speed from the 105's and RE-17! My gun seems pressure sensitive, 37.3 gr RE-17 is approaching max for my rifle. I've never shot it through a chrono so I don't know how fast they're flying but the accuracy has been good. It'll shoot .3 moa pretty consistently out to 400 yds. I haven't really tried group shooting past 400 yet. I've had good success with the 105 berger being seated .005" & .010" into the lands. Still working on seating depth though, going to try .010" off the lands and see what effects that has on pressure and accuracy.
Thanks for the info Bill.
Yeah I'm probably well over max. I still have room in the case, so the load is uncompressed but yeah I'm pushing the limits. I'm off the lands between .008 and .010. I will say though that the primers didn't show any cratering until about 41.5gr. At 42gr the bolt lift was still normal. I hit hard bolt lift with the VVN560 at 42.8gr so I know what it feels like in this rifle.
And again my disclaimer above still stands. If you kill yourself or someone else with my data, savageshooters nor myself are liable.

That's good news! I just won a $1.2 million lottery jackpot and I thought I was going to have to split it with you...whew, that was a close one.Originally Posted by BulletBill
