I use Forster head space gauges. I have never had a problem with any of them.
Getting everything together to do my first barrel swap and am wondering what brand headspace gauges to go with? I know of the methods to do it without, but I'm a precision measuring nut and a tool junkie, so I want to buy some for this 22-250 and buddies Creedmoor project. I've read all sorts of stories on Forster and Clymer gauges being mis labeled, several thousands off of spec, etc. what's my best bet to get quality at reasonable pricing? Thanks for any suggestions for or against any brand.

Any clod can have the facts; having opinions is an art.
Check out Manson Reamers in WI. Just bought a set from them...very good quality.

Best is subjective. If the company has a good QC department then it meets specs or it does not. It either gets the job done or it doesn't.
At work I use Proto, at home I use craftsman or whatever is made with quality. You can have them gold plated and they are more costly. but do they work better? PTG, Forster, Manson... its all good. I used the cheap Shaw and compared them to a PTG and a forster set and they passed the test.

I have used several sets of Forster gauges and am well satisfied.
Ok thanks guys. Guess ill just get what I find available and check them before use. Easy enough!
Dave Manson is in Grand Blanc, Michigan. I've used his stuff almost exclusively for years.
I have JGS and Clymer.
With my past builds it turned out that the deciding factor on what brand was what was available at the time
I have forster and PTG, but as someone already stated, the brands mentioned already will do the job if they are made to specs
Thanks
Jack
PTG and Forster work great for me
Just placed an order with Mansons...looks like good stuff...highly recommended by some BR shooters...
I don't think I have ever had a bad gauge.

I feel that the ptg's are the most consistent and there quality is real good.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
