So I went to the savage web page and entered the serial number of my rifle. Their web page says I need part 103978. The small hole pin. Midway is out of stock. Any other source for these?
I have a 110 in 30-06 I bought in 03/1999. SN is F755xxx. Does it use the large hole bolt head retain pin? I think it does right? I want to buy a spare or two. I saw somewhere that after 1999 they switched to the small hole pin?
I bought it new in 1999 at a sports authority or similar place.
Are there any other spare parts worth getting for my 110?
My first post here but I'm not new to firearms.
Thanks!

Did the savage website say it was a restricted part? If not call savage and order it.

Yep. It's restricted. Only for "gun smith"
Brownell's might have the part
Ummm....think you mean large or small FIRING PIN hole, not retaining pin hole. AFAIK Savage has never changed the size of the retaining pin.

“Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.” —Mark Twain
The changeover to the small firing pin was sporadic and was first seen in the magnums. There was no set changeover date or serial # point, so the best thing to do is to tear it apart and check.

Yes i do mean the hole size as small or large......brownells is out also.
I guess i'll do without.
