I just bought this barrel at a really good price off another forum. I didnt even realize they made it.
It is a 22" stainless sporter 7mm08 barrel off of a model 16. The weird thing is that it is a LARGE shank barrel ???.
My thought was to have it turned down to small shank and either use it for deer, or maybe cut it down for my Striker. But if it is some rare breed maybe I'll just leave it alone and use it for trade bait sometime ::)
Did Savage have them in production like this, or could it have been a Custom Shop build?

This is what you call a "clean up " barrel. The only reason it's a large shank, is that they had a surplus of WSM receivers and decided to use them up. They just make barrels to fit the surplus actions.
